Detour built Surge as their first ever frame purely for sport, and the XL version is made to fit like a glove for larger heads.
This pair is made for the batting cages, the trails, and the long miles. Adjustable wire-core arms and adjustable nose pads help you dial in a secure, comfortable fit so you can move freely without constant readjustments. For vision, the HiFi high-contrast lens tech is designed to sharpen your surroundings, enhance colors, and define details, helping you stay focused on what’s ahead.
Surge XL also brings added protection for active use. With ANSI Z87+ safety ratings and impact protection, plus ANSI Z87+ certification, it’s built to handle the curveballs that come with real sport and outdoor wear.
Detour’s Surge line uses PC (polycarbonate) lenses, with lens material injected around the Hi-Fi (high contrast) filter to prevent layers from separating, which can be common in humid high temperature locations or if you store your sunglasses in your car. The oleophobic lens coating helps smudges wipe off easily and supports longer lens life, while the hydrophobic coating repels water to help keep your vision clear. Sweat proof, oil proof coatings round out the build, and a drawstring pouch is included to keep your shades protected and clean.

FIT & SIZING
Fit Guide: Our Surge XL frame fits Large/XL faces best. Frame measurements shown: 157 mm (width), 60 mm (lens height), 151 mm (nose pad to arm tip). Nose pads are adjustable. Detour notes XL sunglasses are roughly 8%–10% bigger than their average size, and recommends XL if sunglasses normally feel tight or don’t cover all of your eye region.

Our Surge line uses PC (polycarbonate) lenses. This is a huge upgrade over traditional TAC lenses since the lens material is injected around our Hi-Fi™ (high contrast) filter. This prevents these layers from ever separating which can be common in humid high temperature locations or if you store your sunglasses in your car.

The oleophobic lens coating adds a barrier that makes wiping smudges effortless and helps extend the life of your lenses. The Hydrophobic coating will repel water keeping your vision clear and avoiding the need to wipe your lenses dry, again extending the life of your lenses.
