This model uses polarized PC (polycarbonate) lenses. Detour notes this as an upgrade over traditional TAC lenses because the lens material is injected around the polarized filter, helping prevent layers from separating—something that can happen in humid, high-temperature environments or when sunglasses are stored in a car. Polarization also helps reduce eye strain, cuts glare, and defines details when looking at reflective surfaces.
For water-focused use, the salt water resistant lens coating adds a barrier to protect against salt particles and help extend lens life. The hydrophobic coating repels water to keep your vision clear and reduces the need to wipe your lenses dry—especially important when you’re dealing with spray, sweat, or saltwater.

Fit guide: Our Breach frame fits medium/large faces best. Measurements shown: 143 mm frame width, 61 mm lens width, 42 mm lens height, 17 mm bridge, 143 mm temple length.

This prevents these layers from ever separating which can be common in humid high temperature locations or if you store your sunglasses in your car. 

The salt resistant lens coating adds a barrier to protect against salt particles which helps extends the life of your lenses. The Hydrophobic coating will repel water keeping your vision clear and reducing the need to wipe your lenses dry, again extending the life of your lenses. Reducing the need to wipe saltwater (basically rubbing tiny salt particles into your lenses) is a huge plus to keeping your lenses in great shape.
