Detour XL vs Oakley XL

Detour XL vs Oakley XL

Not all XL sunglasses are created equal.

Oakley’s “XL” often just means slightly taller lenses—not necessarily wider frames. So if you’ve got a larger head or want full wraparound coverage, you might still end up with a tight fit.

At Detour, XL means what it sounds like: a true oversized fit. Wider temples, longer arms, and more lens coverage—all designed for comfort, performance, and all-day wear without the squeeze.

Let’s break it down, frame by frame.

Frame Width

Both Oakley XL pairs measure at least 10 mm smaller in both frame and arm lengths, making them more large, less extra large.

When looking for XL sunglasses, it's important to pay attention to sizing information on product pages. More often than not, large sunglasses are marketed as extra large without matching the requirements.

True XL sunglasses means accomodation to actual XL heads. When we designed our first pair of XL sunglasses, we did so using true XL measurements. It was the driving purpose behind our design, not an afterthought.

Tall, wide lenses, dual spring hinge frames, and generous arms define our XL sunglasses and set them apart from competitors.

With a wide range of XL models that is continuously growing, we're confident that we have the style for you. Whether you're needing an XL frame for fishing, working, or everyday activities, our collection includes wraparound, ANSI Z87+ certified, aviator, or classic styles, we've got a frame for every niche.
